Geo-placement: Geo-replicated Database Placement
نویسندگان
چکیده
Geo-replication is the process of maintaining copies of data at geographically dispersed datacenters for better availability and fault-tolerance. The distinguishing characteristic of geo-replication is the large wide-area latency between datacenters that varies widely depending on the location of the datacenters. Thus, choosing which datacenters to deploy a cloud application has a direct impact on the observable response time. We propose an optimization framework that automatically derives a georeplication placement plan with the objective of minimizing latency. By running the optimization framework on real placement scenarios, we learn a set of placement principles for geo-replication. In this paper, we highlight the geo-replication placement principles.

Evaluation of water quality functions of conventional and advanced soil-based onsite wastewater treatment systems.
Shallow narrow drainfields are assumed to provide better wastewater renovation than conventional drainfields and are used for protection of surface and ground water. To test this assumption, we evaluated the water quality functions of two advanced onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS) drainfields-shallow narrow (SND) and Geomat (GEO)-and a conventional pipe and stone (P&S) drainfield over 1...
متن کاملA Labeling Model Based on the Region of Movability for Point-Feature Label Placement
Automatic point-feature label placement (PFLP) is a fundamental task for map visualization. As the dominant solutions to the PFLP problem, fixed-position and slider models have been widely studied in previous research. However, the candidate labels generated with these models are set to certain fixed positions or a specified track line for sliding. Thus, the whole surrounding space of a point f...
متن کاملCBR Improvement of Clayey Soil with Geo-grid Reinforcement
The quality and life of pavement is greatly affected by the type of sub-grade, sub base and base course materials. The most important of these are the type and quality of sub-grade soil. But in India most of the flexible pavements are need to be constructed over weak and problematic sub-grade. The California bearing ratio (CBR) of these sub-grade have very low, it needs to more thickness of pav...
متن کاملBlotter: Low Latency Transactions for Geo-Replicated Storage
Most geo-replicated storage systems use weak consistency to avoid the performance penalty of coordinating replicas in different data centers. This departure from strong semantics poses problems to application programmers, who need to address the anomalies enabled by weak consistency. In this paper we use a recently proposed isolation level, called Non-Monotonic Snapshot Isolation, to achieve AC...
متن کاملHybVOR: A Voronoi-Based 3D GIS Approach for Camera Surveillance Network Placement
As a consequence of increasing safety concerns, camera surveillance has been widely adopted as a way to monitor public spaces. One of the major challenges of camera surveillance is to design an optimal method for camera network placement in order to ensure the greater possible coverage. In addition, this method must consider the landscape of the monitored environment to take into account the ex...
